Top Pop Groups on Summer Tour

Britney Spears and Destiny's Child are both lining up summer tours of the US joining other top teen acts like 'N Sync, Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Lopez, Usher and Sisqo on the road in 2001.

The Backstreet Boys are already on the first leg of their US tour and of the other acts so far only 'N Sync have announced initial dates.

All of the acts are in talks with promoters to tour North America this summer. Destiny's Child are rumoured to be joining the Backstreet Boys, Shaggy and Aaron Carter for a major summer tour. In the meantime the group will perform one off shows.

'We're only doing spot dates because we're so busy,' said Destiny's Kelly Rowland.

Christina Aguilera won't be touring this summer. According to her manager Irving Azoff, Aguilera will be focusing instead on recording a new album for RCA.

The Backstreet Boys meanwhile are continuing their US tour which kicked off in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, last month with shows in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Grand Forks, North Dakota, this weekend. On Thursday the group played to the biggest audience of their Back and Blue tour so far at the huge Pontiac Silverdome arena where 45,000 fans watched the band.
