Ricky Martin to Perform for Queen

Ricky Martin is slated to be among the performers celebrating the 50-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II, Buckingham Palace said.

Martin will join Paul McCartney, Elton John, Eric Clapton and Phil Collins in a June 3 concert for some 12,000 people on palace grounds.

The president of the committee organizing the Golden Jubilee Weekend, Lord Sterling, said that a varied program of activities was designed to encourage the public to participate in the June 1-4 celebrations.

"Although the national event is celebrated in London, it includes people throughout the country and the commonwealth," said Lord Sterling, who expects more than one million people to participate in the celebration.

Event organizers also confirmed the appearance of legendary heavy-metal singer Ozzy Osbourne at the Party at the Palace Pop Concert.

More than a million people have entered a ballot for the concert's 12,000 free tickets and the lucky participants will be provided with champagne and hors d'oeuvres at the event.
