Eminem Talks About His Mom
Eminem still hopes to reconcile with his mother Debbie Mathers one day - even though he claims she made him ill as a child, just to get attention.
The controversial rapper, who went to court over past claims he made about his mum in the lyrics of his hits, apologises for hurting her in new song "Cleanin' Out My Closet" - but the song also suggests his mother suffered from Munchausen's Syndrome.
Eminem raps, "I was going through public housing systems, a victim of Munchausen's syndrome," and "my whole life I was made to believe I was sick when I wasn't."
The disorder, common among young mums, prompts them to fabricate symptoms or provoke illnesses in their own children to get attention for themselves.
Speaking about the lyrics for "Cleanin' Out My Closet," Eminem says, "I shouldn't really speak about it because I don't want to end up in court again."
But he insists he still thinks he will patch things up with his mum: "Maybe one day, before one of us reaches our graves, we can make some type of amends.
"Cleanin' Out My Closet is my way of saying I'm done with it."
