Nickelback Triumph In Court

Canadian rockers Nickelback are celebrating after they won their court case against their former manager over ownership of an unreleased album, recorded in 1996.

The band, who comprise of brothers Chad and Michael Kroeger and guitarist Ryan Peake claimed Amar II Canada Productions Inc. and Clyde Hill, one of Amar's principals, were illegally holding the master copy of Nickelback's first album, titled "Curb".

Justice Marion Allan in the British Columbia Supreme Court declared the group owned the copy. Allan says, "There is no justification for Amar to retain the master."

The judge dismissed the band's claims for damages, after the trio alleged they lost income because of the defendants' acts. Meanwhile Amar is suing the band, seeking a percentage of Nickelback's earnings and management fees and expenses.
