Letoya's "Torn" is Number 1 On R&R's Urban Top 50
Her self-titled solo debut album isn't due out until July 25th, but LeToya already has a #1 single, with "Torn" topping R&R's Urban Top 50 chart for the second week in a row. And today the accompanying video is #1 on BET's "106th & Park" countdown for the 21st consecutive day. With an audience of 60 million, "Torn" is #2 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, #3 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and #38 on Billboard's Hot 100.
LeToya, who appeared on the cover of the June issue of King magazine, has been confirmed to open for Mary J. Blige on her extensive North American summer tour. "Mary J. Blige: The Breakthrough Experience" tour, which will also feature Jaheim as an opening act, will kick off July 14th in St. Louis, MO. While on the East Coast, LeToya will perform "Torn" on "Live with Regis and Kelly" on July 26th.
The Chris Robinson-lensed video for "Torn" is in Power rotation at VH1 Soul and MTV Hits and has been added by MTV, MTV Jams, BETJ, Yahoo! Music and AOL Music. LeToya has appeared on MTV's "Sucker Free" (formerly "Direct Effect") as well as BET's "The Center" and "106th & Park" and she recently performed at the BET Awards Pre-Show. Earlier this week, BET's "Access Granted" gave viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the video for her next single, "She Don't," followed by the video's world premiere. On July 25th, LeToya will be Cingular Sounds' featured artist and appear in AT&T's Blue Room for an exclusive interview and performance.
During her seven-year stint with Destiny's Child, LeToya co-wrote and sang on the group's gold-certified singles "Bills Bills Bills" and "Say My Name," from their breakthrough The Writing's On The Wall album, which has been certified 8-times Platinum in the United States. Now she returns with LeToya, a dynamic collection of songs featuring production from Scott Storch, Walter Millsap, Teddy Bishop and Jermaine Dupri and guest appearances by Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Bun B and Slim Thug.
