Pharrell Is a Broken Man After Dublin
Chart-topping rap star and record producer Pharrell Williams is still limping after jumping off the stage when he was heckled at a gig in Ireland last December, he has revealed.
The three-time Grammy Award winner, who has worked with Britney Spears, Madonna and Justin Timberlake, was playing with his band, NERD, in Dublin when the incident happened.
'Yo, I broke my toe in Ireland!' he said.
The 34-year-old, who was opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, claimed he was the target of verbal abuse from a member of the crowd.
'And I jumped off the stage and boom! I broke my toe.' He added: 'I'm still limping.' Williams was speaking before he headlined a private music event at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles sponsored by drinks firm Hennessy.
But he added that the experience in Dublin didn't turn him off performing in the country again. 'I love Ireland,' he said.
Also performing on the LA bill was Chicago rockers Fall Out Boy as well as Felix Da Housecat, DJ Steve Aoki, DJ D-Nice and DJ JusSke.
