Katy Perry Will Host the MTV Europe Awards

LIVERPOOL, England, Oct 13, 2008 (UPI via COMTEX) -- U.S. pop singer Katy Perry will be the host of the MTV Europe Music Awards next month, it has been announced.

Perry, the 23-year-old performer best known for her hit "I Kissed A Girl," is also up for two awards -- best new act and most addictive track -- at the Nov. 6 event in Liverpool.

The BBC quoted organizers of the prize presentation as saying they wanted a master of ceremonies whose style is "informal and relaxed" and thought Perry would be perfect for the job.

The singer told the British broadcaster she considers the invitation "an incredible honor."

"Do they know what they're getting themselves into? I just hope that I don't spill my cocktail!" she said.
