Timberlake Missed out on a Deal With Bieber
Bieber's manager Scooter Braun was working with the Baby singer's mentor Usher on fine-tuning his talents and getting him record label-ready when Timberlake came calling.
Braun tells The Hollywood Reporter, "We were flown to Justin's house in Memphis. He (Timberlake) and Ken Komisar, who runs Tennman Records, offered us a deal, but it wasn't what we wanted."
Braun stalled and then Usher persuaded his music executive mentor L.A. Reid to check Bieber out.
Reid, who appears in Bieber's new film Never Say Never revealing how the teenager blew him away the first time he heard him, still recalls the moment he laid eyes on the hitmaker.
He says, "I really believed a great star had walked into the room."
