Detroit-born contemporary R&B singer Aaliyah (born Aaliyah Haughton) became an overnight sensation in 1994 with her debut album, Age Ain't Nothing but a Number and its two hit singles, "Back & Forth" and "At Your Best (You Are Love)." Aaliyah was only 15 years old when her debut record was released in 1994. Her age became controversial when news of her marriage to her producer, R. Kelly, was leaked out at the end of the year. In 1996 she resurfaced with One in a Million.
