After stepping into the big leagues with a big hit single and rapidly becoming a big star, Lil' Romeo further courts his fans with, Romeo!, a big hit comedy series on Nickelodeon now in its 4th season. It was a natural next step for the multi-talented 17-year-old, who mixes music, comedy and charisma on Romeo! "Playing my first leading role in a TV series and getting to write and perform music for it is very cool. The big difference between Romeo Miller and me is that he's trying to get to where I am now and the character is a little goofier than me too, but we're both ambitious and want to be number one in everything we do." Romeo entered the hip-hop scene 7 years ago as something of an anomaly: a pint-sized rapper with squeaky clean lyrics. He immediately topped the Billboard singles chart with "My Baby" from his self-titled debut album and usurped Michael Jackson's spot as the youngest solo artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart with his first single. The song ranked first on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Sales chart for 10 straight weeks. His 2004 release, Romeoland, found success with the hit single "My Cinderella," featuring a performance from Nickelodeon alumni Nick Cannon. Teaming up with his little brother Vercy Miller a/k/a Young V and his cousins C- Los, Big Doug and Lil' D, to form the new teen super group, The Rich Boyz, Romeo showed his fans his new grown-up style on their debut CD Young Ballers, released November 2005. Romeo is set to release his 4th album Gumbo Station, in April of this year, as well as his feature film "God's Gift" a family drama, is in stores now on DVD. He also stars in "Crush On U" and "Uncle Willy's Family," produced by his dad Master P, also on DVD and also in stores April of this year. The oldest of seven children in a close-knit family, born Percy Romeo Miller in New Orleans, Lil' Romeo was five when his father, rap impresario Master P's, No Limit empire began to rise. "I used to see my dad and all his brothers rhyming, and I knew I wanted to do that one day," he recalls, revealing, "Me and my cousin used to sneak in my dad's studio and record songs with his engineer just for fun." No longer tiptoeing around, the teen sensation grabbed center stage in two Nickelodeon concert specials and acted in popular television series' such as The Hugleys, The Proud Family" and "One-On-One." He proved himself a serious actor in a leading role in the Universal blockbuster feature film, Honey, along side new Hollywood darling Jessica Alba (2003). The film ranked #1 at the box office and was a sleeper hit of the year. Romeo's 2nd album Game Time featured a diversity of upbeat tunes he penned with his dad, and his 3rd album Romeoland featured a more mature Romeo, but always playful and even a little boastful. On Romeoland he lets everyone know that his future plans include becoming the first hip hop billionaire. He intends to heed the advice of his dad, though: "Keep your head up, stay humble, have fun and get an education." There's a footnote too, Romeo informs. "Always have a back-up plan." Hoping to follow in his father's entrepreneurial footsteps, he launched P. Miller Shorties, an urban clothing line, and, like his dad, he enjoys making moves on the basketball court. "I'd like to be one of the best players in the NBA," muses the performer whose Junior Olympic AAU team, the P. Miller Ballers- coached by his dad - went to the championship three times in the last 3 years. The very busy 17-year old still finds time to play on both his high school basketball AND football team while also earning a straight "A" average in school.
