Rapper Plies has lost a lawsuit to an Alabama concert promoter after failing to turn up in court to answer the breach of contract allegations.

The Shawty hitmaker, real name Algernod Lanier Washington, was sued by P Entertainment Promotions earlier this year after he skipped a scheduled performance in Montgomery on July 8th, leaving 1,500 fans angry at the no-show.

Promoter Patrick Monfiston claimed Washington then made unflattering comments about him on local radio station Wzht Hot-105, maintaining that he hadn't been paid for the gig prior to the scheduled date.

But last week Monfiston - who was also suing for slander following Plies' radio comments - was awarded a default judgment after both the rapper and his manager David Gray missed the court date. Full details of the judgment have not been revealed, but Monfiston was awarded a minimum of $11,000 - enough to cover the cost of arranging the concert and pay for damage made by the rioting fans.
