Amy Winehouse's husband Blake Fielder-Civil has been ordered to serve a further 18 months in prison after a judge handed him a 27-month sentence in relation to a June 2006 attack on a pub landlord.

Fielder-Civil was sentenced on Monday at London's Snaresbrook Crown Court after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm (Gbh) to James King.

He had also admitted conspiracy to pervert the course of justice by attempting to bribe King into withdrawing his testimony.

The 26-year-old - who married the Back To Black star last year - has been held on remand at London's Pentonville Prison since November, and the time he has already served will count towards his sentence.

Before the ruling was announced, Fielder-Civil's barrister Jeremy Dein Qc appealed to Judge David Radford to suspend his client's sentence, or sentence him to the nine months he has already spent behind bars.

He told the court Fielder-Civil "was of exemplary good character", adding, "This has been a nightmare scenario, not just for him but for his wife and his family."

However, the plea was dismissed by Radford, who responded, "No previous convictions rather than exemplary good character, if what I read about him and the use of drugs is true."
