Jay-Z will help re-open Los Angeles landmark the Hollywood Palladium with a big band show on October 15th.

The rapper will be backed by a 12-piece band, according to reports.

The Hollywood Palladium closed last spring for major renovations.

Frank Sinatra helped launch the venue when it first opened its doors in 1940. He was a member of the club's first act, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra.

Jay-Z says, "I'm honored to play such an iconic venue. Just as Frank ushered in a golden era, I hope this opening will mark the beginning of a resurgence in generation-defining live music."

The venue has played host to superstars like the Rolling Stones, James Brown, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Police and rap icons Public Enemy.
