Rap mogul Jay-Z has hit back at Foxy Brown and Teairra Mari after the pair accused him of failing to offer them enough career support.

Brown recently slammed her former mentor and collaborator, insisting he didn't offer her any help when she was jailed for eight months for probation violation in 2007 and 2008.

And Mari also took aim at the star for not offering her any advice when she was dropped from Roc-A-Fella Records in 2006, while he was Ceo and President of Def Jam.

But Jay-Z insists he didn't treat either of the women differently to any of his other protegees.

He tells Allhiphop.com, "As far as Foxy or Teairra Mari, these are people that I have given chances to. It's understandable that they would be upset, but you got to look at it from my point of view as well."

"I gave Teairra Mari the same shot I gave Rihanna. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't."

"You know that stuff is going to happen, eventually it's going to happen, what I'm happy about is, that no matter what people say, no one has ever said that I am dishonest or that I have taken one dime from them. I've never cheated anyone out of a dime."
