Wyclef joins Jay-Z for 'Last Chance for Change' Voter Registration Rally
Oct 2, 2008 -
MIAMI - This Sunday, on the eve of the deadline to register to vote in Florida, two Grammy Award-winning musicians will headline a major voter registration rally and concert hosted by Obama for America. The campaign announced today that the multi-talented Wyclef Jean has been added to the program with Jay-Z at Miami's Bayfront Park Amphitheater.
At the event on Sunday, Oct. 5, Jay-Z and Wyclef will perform for thousands of Florida voters - for free. Both artists will promote voter registration and encourage young people to get involved and make history with the Obama campaign.
The deadline to register to vote in Florida is Monday, October 6th. To vote in the November election, registration applications must be postmarked or hand-delivered to Supervisors of Elections Offices by that day.
Wyclef Jean has been a long-time advocate for aid to his native Haiti - an issue that hits home with the thousands of Haitian-Americans in Florida, particularly in recent months as the island nation has been ravaged by devastating storms.
Tickets can only be obtained by visiting a South Florida Campaign for Change office and are limited to two per person. You must be 18 to attend the event. Visit http://fl.BarackObama.com for more information. Ticket distribution begins at 10:00 AM today, Thursday, Oct. 2.
