One of Britney Spears' bodyguards has been accused of assaulting a female paparazzo in New York.

Carmen Valdes filed a police report on Wednesday claiming the unnamed minder bruised her and tried to break her camera, while the snapper was attempting to shoot the pop star in the city.

She also claims Spears' Suv almost ran her over as it sped away from the scene.

The New York Police Department has told TMZ.com it is unlikely it will investigate the matter.

The pop princess is in the Big Apple promoting her new single Womanizer.
