British girl band Sugababes are planning to break up temporarily - so founding member Keisha Buchanan can go to university.

The trio's debut single Overload shot into the U.K charts when the singer was aged 15 and the band has gone on to sell more than five million records there.

But now Keisha wants to carry out the studies she missed out on in her teens - and she has put the band on a hiatus.

Keisha says, "It's my dream to study at university. I've been in Sugababes since I was 12, so I would love the opportunity."

But she insists her education won't be the end for the band: "We would do our individual projects and come back together stronger than before."
