British pop singer Lily Allen has hit out at the obsession with celebrity culture - branding it a bad influence on young people.

The Smile hitmaker believes constant media exposure can be unhealthy for some young stars - although it has its upsides for Allen as it means she gets paid "ridiculous amounts of money to DJ at nightclubs".

She tells British newspaper the Daily Star, "There are definitely things that come out of it that are really good. But there are bad things that are really bad not just for me. I don't think celebrity culture is very healthy for young people at all. At the same time I get the benefits."
