Disney boyband The Jonas Brothers were so stunned after receiving their first Grammy nomination on Wednesday night, they were left breathless.

The sibling trio gasped and fist-pumped the air after it was announced they will compete in the Best New Artist category at the 51st annual ceremony next year, against other acts including U.K. singers Adele and Duffy.

And the brothers insist they were shocked to have been recognised for their album A Little Bit Longer - because it is only their third studio Lp.

Nick Jonas tells MTV.com, "When you start in a band as an artist you say, 'One day, I'll be nominated for a Grammy'. It happened, and we're just so honoured.

"As young guys, we know that this is a privilege, and we do appreciate that. We're grateful."

And eldest brother Kevin admits he was left speechless upon hearing the nomination. He adds: "The air just kind of leaves your lungs. It was kind of awesome!"

The Grammy Awards ceremony will take place on 8 February 2009.
