B2K In Concert
Jan 29, 2003 - Khadijah Faison
Many teenage girls could hardly wait for the Jan. 17 B2K concert in Las Vegas. Thousands waited to greet the new teen sensations Omarion, Lil Fizz, Raz-B and J-Boog.
The diversity of the crowd was better than expected. The many races and heritages there showed that B2K can grab the attention of a variety of cultures. That's an important quality for a performer because he or she isn't just another drab entertainer who is trying to catch the attention of a particular race or culture.
The opening act was Marques Houston, aka Batman from IMX, who also is Omarion's brother. His performance was exceptional, but he could have been more in tune with his fans.
B2K, on the other hand, gave one of the best performances I have ever seen. They were energetic and had the crowd in a frenzy the whole performance. When they sang "Why I Love You," the crowd went wild as they brought four girls from the audience onstage and serenaded them.
Too bad their excellent performance was marred by several logistical problems. The concert was supposed to start at 7 p.m., but it didn't begin until around 9 p.m. There wasn't much entertainment going on while the crowd waited. Some people began to leave.
